The Polygot Petition
The Polyglot Petition is considered the first international effort to stop the trafficking of alcohol and opium. A small portion of the Polyglot Petition is on display in the museum.
"Polygot" comes from two Greek words "poly" meaning many and "glot" meaning languages. The petition has signatures from the residents of six continents.

Mary Clement Leavitt began collecting signatures for the petition in 1884 and finished her world tour in 1891. She traveled the world getting signatures, she also established unions which would become the branches of the World WCTU.
